Red Man Statement
My project has focused on the differences of western and eastern culture and what is the different experience between China and the United Kingdom. As one of Chinese students, I have already become a "red" person
who was educated by red communist Chinese education. Nowadays, I have came to the UK as well studying and living here which is quite different with my life in China. In term of my facing new and strange environment that made me felt lonely and helpless. Due to the difference of cultural background and habits of life, even have predicament of language. I really feel oppressed.
At this time, my lens want to capture another me, which is red traffic light at the midnight in somewhere of UK. It seem that I saw a lonely tiny Yao Hui who is wandering on the street with the pitch-dark and oppressive night. Glamorous and attractive lights for all I care. I gave this series a title “Red Man” who is a virtual of my body and soul.
In addition, the red light means we should stop walking in reality. My conception will express that as one of Chinese how to think about our future when I am stopping. During the dramatically economic development how can I looking for a good mode of existence.
